Races may be the worse thing that ever happened to Guildwars.
Think about it, now all ANET is doing is trying to copy off of WoW, which us being GUILDWARS players not wanting at all. We want Guildwars, not WoW.
Also it is just going to be causing a whole lot more complication. 4 classes, 8 professions, causing 32 different chracter/class appearances. Not to mention the secondary combinations >_>.
Anyone else agree with me here?

I hope you realize that WoW is not the only MMORPG with different races.
Anyways, GW is not turning into WoW AT ALL. Where do you people get these damn ideas? This is better for guild wars, in my opinion anyways.
All it does is bring diversity into the game.

We don't even no anything about "GW2", no idea if there will be races. Stop freaking out about something that you as yet have no reason to even believe will happen.

Umm..this is wrong on so many levels...but maybe if WoW and GW actually looked at the better points in each game, they would improve their own games individually, instead of being stubborn and narrow minded. Just a thought.

This has to be thread number 1758934753405830 about adding new races. Quite frankly I could care less about new races being added. Lets be honest, it won't make the game more fun. ZOMG I'm a charr! lol! I'm not laughing.
Believe me I've thought about playing as a different race and it's not interesting one bit. You look different and do the same thing over and over again much like a human character does. There's no advantage to one race over a human. So why bother adding new races? Giving them an advantage could upset balance however. So as of now its just a waste of Anet's time.

What makes GW different from WoW mostly is the level cap, the skill system which relies more on strategies, the low amount of grind needed, not races.

You do realize WoW isn't the only nor first game to have races, right? If you didn't notice we already have multiple races in the game other than Humans, Tengu, Charr, Centaurs, Dwarves and etc. They're just not playable.
Man if I hear another "This isn't WoW!" like statement I'm going to scream -_- Never understood this rivalry, it's like you play this game you must hate the other. I mean it's okay if you don't like that game, but stop making said quote. It wasn't the first mmorpg to invent everything in this genre.

No, GW is copying off D&D! That had races before WoW did!
Seriously, I wouldn't mind other playable races as long as it was only aesthetic, thus not screwing up GW's precious balance even more.
Charr are cute.

I just want to be able to turn my warrior into an undead warrior Now that would be cool! Come on it wouldn't be that hard to come up with a story, just have a big bad curse. You could even let people complete a quest etc that turns them back into the living/uncursed.
The big quest is if Anet could implement into the game...

It wouldn't really make any difference other than cosmetics, I don't see how it could ruin the game at all

How about we remove online-play from GW because WoW has it too!
How about we remove humans from GW because WoW has those too!
Lets remove guilds and pvp from GW because WoW has those too!
Lets from friends/ignore lists from GW because WoW has those too!
See where I am getting at?

Yes, we all know that WoW invented EVERYTHING. They were the first to come up with elves and dwarves. And elf women. Heck, before WoW there were no women so we had to dress up sheep. Oh and WoW invented sheep too.
So yes, let's not have different playable races in GW2 because that's just ripping off WoW. Hell, let's not have any games at all because WoW invented games too.

Where did the idea that they would be having playable races come from?
Oh. Yeah. An article that has been discredited by the good folks at A-Net who state that there is a lot of flat-out wrong or inaccurate information contained in that article.
Don't believe it until A-Net confirms it.

QFT - Almost all role playing games of today are based off of the basics of D&D. To suggest that one is copying off of another is rather silly unless we are talking about something specific to the mechanics of the video game, not the basics of the game itself.
Races may be the BEST thing that ever happened to Guildwars. None of us will know unless it happens. Which we don't even know if it will yet. Why are we talking about this again???

Purely cosmetic races would be great.
Races with actual mechanical benefits and drawbacks would be a really bad idea. Right now the only fixed part of a PvE character's build is their primary profession, everything else (secondary profession, skills, equipment and pet) can be changed. It would be annoying if players were shoehorned into specific attributes because of racial attribute modifiers or racial skills. It would also be annoying if they nerfed and buffed various racial skills after the game was around for a while, or introduced a new race with better racial skills in an expansion, making existing characters "obsolete".
